Specialist in the synthesis of Ballroom Dance with Theatrical Narrative

 

Andrea Brodine is a Dancer, Choreographer, and Director based in New York City. Originally from Rochester, NY, she moved to Manhattan to pursue her dance career in October of 2017, and attended both the Training Program and Professional Semester Program at Broadway Dance Center.

While a versatile dancer, Andrea specializes in Musical Theater Dance and Ballroom Dance. Andrea is formerly a competitive Ballroom Dancer, including Cabaret-style Ballroom which encompasses aerial partnering. Andrea was recipient of a National Title in Cabaret-style Ballroom Dance and is currently a private Ballroom Instructor, offering her expertise to local professional choreographers, students, and working dancers in NYC.

Andrea is also an emerging choreographer and director in NYC. She attended the inaugural Dance Lab NY Broadway Choreography Intensive in Summer 2018, led by Tony-nominated Choreographer, Joshua Prince. Since then, she has presented at several showcases in the NYC area, including NACHMO, NACHMOx, Uptown Rising through Bridge for Dance, and the 2020 virtual showcase “Dancing Through…”, produced by Theatre Dance Vietnam in collaboration with TheTankNYC where her work was showcased alongside other NYC and Broadway choreographers. In November 2021, Andrea directed and choreographed “Social Call: The Dance Film”, performed to Jazz musician’s Benny Benack III and Veronica Swift’s rendition of the classic Jazz standard “Social Call” - appearing also as a dancer in the film alongside musical theater performer, Cory Betts. Most recently, Andrea choreographed, directed, and produced the official music video for Jazz artist Tony Glausi’s new latin single “Rie y Llora”, featuring world-class Latin Dance professionals Val Voronov and Anna Pelypenko.

Andrea continues to pursue a career in Musical Theater as performer and storyteller while also curating choreographic works and collaborating with fellow dancers and musicians. Andrea also offers instruction in Ballroom Dance, Musical Theater Dance, Ballet, Contemporary, and Jazz via in-person and virtual private lessons, group classes, and masterclass workshops for individual students and studios nation-wide.
